Methodology Compliance

Plant Scherer uses CEMS technology to monitor the plant's emissions to meet EPA's National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for harmful pollutants.

CEMS: Continuous Emission Monitoring System. The system collects, records, and reports data on emissions like CO2, NOx, SO2, and VOCs.

Stack: An incinerator that takes in waste and outputs smoke emissions. Smoke emissions are mainly carbon dioxide and water and are reliant on air pollution control technology and the combustion process.

Gas Sampling Probe: This instrument extracts a sample gas from the emissions and directs it to the air supply port for analysis.

Flow Meter Probe: Used to measure the volume of gas flowing through the stack.

Temperature/Pressure Meter: Used to measure the temperature and pressure of gas flowing through the stack.

Dust Meter: Mainly used to measure bigger pollutants that are suspended in the air such as dust, water droplets, and other particles. Will measure the size and concentration of these particles.

Heated Sample Line: The gas sample is heated and insulated to maintain the sample stream temperature.
